no, that's what i'm saying, nothing can come up because finder isn't working, only separate apps work

-Dell Mini 9 - Refurb $269: Obsidian Black, 32GB STEC SSD, 8GB Kingston SDHC (left from previous owner), 2GB 667Mhz RAM, 1.3MP Camera, Bluetooth, Mac OSX 10.5.7
-Dell e1705 - New $1055: ATi X1400 OC/ed 175% faster, XPS 1710 Heatsinks, XPS 1710 Body
e1705 is old, it needs not to be upgraded, but rather be replaced.

If your mouse and keyboard work. Hit command + space bar, now type terminal the application should be at the top of the list. Hit enter and open the terminal. If you get this far let me know.

Anyway assuming you can get the terminal open and you put the dellefi application in the applications folder. Type the following.

sudo open /Applications/DellEFI.app

when it opens reinstall the DellEFI kexts.

I hope this helps. Also for all the others I think this was caused by the removal script. I have updated and tested all the files. Please re-download the scripts on the front page.
It is now not necessary to run the removal tool unless you want to uninstall the kext for good. The new installer should just write over the old files as newer versions are released.

I tried your new update and still cannot get it to work. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, but I cannot get it to work. It looks like it installs, but i never get the "update extras" prompt and the application just quits. There is a pref pane listed under "others" in the system preferences, but no matter what I set anything to in it, it doesnt make a difference.

Im guessing this is all because the "update extras" isnt happening. Can this installation be made a one step installation, i.e., can the update extras be done automatically without user prompt? I dont know why this prompt does not show up for me, but the password window that pops up seems to exhibit some graphical glitches.... the cursor doubles when hovered over the window... I hope this helps... and I hope that this can be resolved.

Are you running DellEFI 1.1? The success of the original script and Im assuming this installer depends on having the proper folder locations and permissions. Older EFIs did not use the Mini9Ext folder that the script refers to.

Sorry, just read through the full thread...noticed you did install DellEFI 1.1

Not sure what else can be your problem at this point.

You are exactly right. You must have dellefi 1.1 or higher. I suggest you redownload and install dellefi 1.1 to make sure your system has all the right system components before using the scripts again.

Dellmini 9
osx 10.5.6 all update installed
Ram 2GB, Runcore 32 GB
DellEFI 1.1

The install went smoothly, had no problem.

Thank for this app, and for making it available to the community.
