Thanks

It worked for me. Thanks for making this. The directions couldn't be anymore clear. Maybe make a quick youtube instructional video. That will probably cut down on questions being asked.

first time I tried this nothing happened, rebooted, replaced the kexts etc. from here: touchpad-drivers-t5577.html

second time prefpanes showed up, could choose settings but.. absolutely nothing happened, rebooted twice and still nothing, removed it and haven't been able to get prefpanes to show up since then.

tried to do the sudo commands earlier today but it wouldn't get anywhere past unzipping them at all, it didn't even want to make a folder or anything..

[edit]
just tried your .dmg file and I got prefpanes to show up but again.. two finger touch makes no difference at all, i'm totally confused, are people actually getting true two finger touch .. working?
When I had OSX on my e1705 the whole two finger thing was just getting figured out and I tried it once but I got the same thing, when I put two fingers on the touch pad the mouse just freaks out and goes somewhere random on the screen.

-Dell Mini 9 - Refurb $269: Obsidian Black, 32GB STEC SSD, 8GB Kingston SDHC (left from previous owner), 2GB 667Mhz RAM, 1.3MP Camera, Bluetooth, Mac OSX 10.5.7
-Dell e1705 - New $1055: ATi X1400 OC/ed 175% faster, XPS 1710 Heatsinks, XPS 1710 Body
e1705 is old, it needs not to be upgraded, but rather be replaced.

Yes two finger scroll works great.

It sounds like you are not an admin user. If you couldn't get the sudo to work before. You must be logged in as an admin user to do sudo commands required for script installer. Make sure you follow the readme file included in the installer dmg.

finder will not run period, thus.. i can't restore using time machine because i can't run it because it can't be found because finder... doesn't work, and now for some reason the install disk won't load either so.. i kinda bricked my machine slightly..
