Many thanks for creating this install/uninstall script.

melkort's improved touchpad drivers make a real world of difference, although it's not quite up to the responsiveness of the cursor in Ubuntu 9.04 that I tried yesterday...but I guess I'll save that for another thread!

Cheers,
James

I give up! Tried several times and I could not get the driver to work. I do have admin rights, but I don't know what DellEFI is installed, if that plays any role.

I will try the manual method and see.
By the way, is there any USB touch pad that does supports multi finger operation in OSX?

I am sorry that you can't get it to work. I haven't heard of anyone else having problems. I am using DellEFI 1.1 I wouldn't recomend using these scripts if you are using an older DellEFI.

If you are still up to it. Install DellEFI 1.1 and try again. I will put the DellEFI 1.1 link below.

No problem. At one point melkort's was updating so often I just had to automate this process.

Thanks to all

When the script finishes it will open an application called Update Extras and all you have to do is click the button and give it your password.

Ok, I tried this but can't seem to get it working correctly. I don't think the readme has enough information in it.

I'm using DellEFI 1.1.
I moved the unzipped files into my home folder (do the installer and uninstaller need to be moved into the home folder location and maintain the same directory structure as the original unzipped files?)
I ran the installer, it asked for my password, then it beachballed for a second and nothing. No option for "extra" or whatever.

I restarted and now see a PS2 pre pane listed under "other" in the system preferences. The original trackpad options are still listed under the keyboard and mouse settings. I opened up the new pref pane listed under "other" and tried setting the options. No matter what i set them to, they do nothing. Even tap to click option doesn't work. However, if I set it under the original trackpad pref pane, it responds to the settings.

Can someone help me with this? Am I doing something obviously wrong here? I tried uninstallating, restarting, and installing, but had the same results. The application now doesnt even ask for my password when I run it.

The update extras have to be run. Let me look at the scripts again. I have had no problems. Check back in a couple minutes. It is also important you are logged in to an admin account not just no the admin password.

Thanks man... I'll be waiting.
I only have one account on the computer, so its Admin by default.
