I've been reading carefully the first post of the discussion you've linked and I've already some questions...
I'll ask my questions point by point.
Some problems could come from my not very good english comprehension, some others from my lack of knowledge about technical terms.
If you can, please, be patient!

- Restore OSX DVD (10.5.x or 10.6) to USB drive
"Restore" means that I've to put the DVD content of the SnowLeopard DVD in a USB pen drive?

- Run NetbookBootMaker (this version) to patch the USB
I'm afraid I do not understand at all this passage...

- Make sure Legacy USB is enabled in BIOS (for booting from USB)
How do I make this sure?

- Boot Mini (9 or 10v) to patched Install USB [note, if "pinwheel of death" appears... wait up to 10 minutes. if not, reboot to USB]
Again, I'm a bit lost...

I understand I 'm possibly a bit too ignorant for this sort of things, but if there's a chance to learn something, I'm up to it.
Isn't there a guide for real beginners?

No worries... your English is better than plenty Americans I have met

1. You need to restore the Snow Leopard DVD to the USB drive using Disk Utility on a Mac... if you do not have a Mac, then you should go to osx.mechdrew.com and attempt to follow one of his guides that suit your needs.

2. NetbookBootMaker is used to patch the USB created in step 1. This is also used on a Mac

3. Go into BIOS (when booting, press F2 on a 10v)

4. After you have prepared steps 1-3 then you can boot to the USB flash drive. You simply make sure the USB drive is plugged in and then boot the Mini. Then boot to USB

One problem less!
I've to get what means "restore SL to a USB drive using Disk Utility"...but I'm sure I'll find out how.
In case of panic, be sure I'll send another post...be ready!

At least now I'm sure that the DellMini I've to buy is the 10v.
I'm planning to buy it ASAP...the one with 1Gb Ram and 160Gb HD.

Using the directions I directed you to initially will use the most updated methods available, which will be good in the future

NetbookBootMaker is just a little program that you run on your Mac and it prepares the USB thumb drive that you made in the first step. You do nothing besides run the app!

I gave a look into the site...it is definitly a great place where to get info and help! I may post some other doubts about the whole thing, but this seem to be the best (and easiest) way I've seen around.

I'm sure about it...it is just a matter of time.

As I see there's a very goo guide for Leopard.
I've a Mac which runs SnowLeopard...but I do have a retail version of Leopard.
Would the whole thing work anyway, or do I need forcely a Mac running Leopard instead of SL?

Looking forward to have in my hands the DellMini 10v (red, possibly!)...and begin with the adventure!

I did a fresh install of SL on my Dell Mini 10v running Leopard.

If you follow mechdrew's instructions on creating a Restore image onto a USB and then running the Netbook Boot Maker on it, everything will come up VERY nicely.

I used the dmg of 10.6.1 downlaoded from Apple to patch/upgrade the system. Out of the shoot, xbench graded my 10.6 system at 35.9. After the patch and some color tweaking, xbench graded my system 44.87.
