Gigabyte GN-WI01GT Wifi B/G - Works out of the box - 04-26-2009, 09:10 PM
I'll be doing a more in-depth write up about this wifi card over in the hardware forum, but I wanted to note for anyone interested that the Gigabyte GN-WI01GT (I got the GN-WI01GT-RH, but I'm not sure if the RH matters) 802.11B/G wifi card works with Mac OS 10.5.6 on the Dell Mini out of the box. (DellEFI 1.2a5 in my case, but it really shouldn't matter).
The hardware install is a drop-in replacement; the hardest part is probably reconnecting the two antenna cables. They pop back on reassuringly, but I've got fat fingers and I'm leery of breaking things.
In my case, booting up found and connected to my wifi network as quickly as usual. Wifi range is obviously a little better, but I haven't finished up getting some real comparison numbers for it yet.
The main point of interest of this card is that it supports packet injection under linux, and would under Mac OS with an appropriate kismet driver. Mine came from Oxford Tec, and they had impressive turn-around time with USPS mail:

Don't think a typical user would be interested in hacking Wi-Fi...
