trying to install osx, and the installer keeps having issues with how I set up my partition. Im not trying to do anything complex, just set up one partition, but am having some issue understanding the partition/erase options.
Looks like erase wants me to select a volume format, and it defaults to MS-DOS. But, I just want to erase my disk and then create a Mac OSX extended partition on it, I'm not sure why it is asking for a volume format when erasing. Then, after I do the erase, I can't create a partition, as it already has one called DiskOS1. I tried creating a new partition called GUID or GUID Partition Table, but it didn't make any difference as far as I could tell.
When I try to select the drive for install, it has an exclamation next to it, and says I can't install on there. If I double-click the drive, a dialog comes up to erase/format, and then I can start the install, which say something like "disk will be formatted then OSX will be installed".
However, the install fails immediately, and says I need to check out my partitions in the Disk Utility. I'm confused...?
