Ok, after even more testing, I've found the following:

Config: Mini 9 (A05 BIOS) with BT & 1.3MP webcam. Dual boot OSX (with Dell EFI 1.1) & XP.

1. If BT is enabled, I have to have USB Legacy disabled or else sleep doesn't work. Also, I can have a USB mouse attached and sleep will function properly. But I can't restart after sleep as it just hangs with a black screen.

2. If BT is disabled, I can have USB Legacy enabled or disabled and sleep will work (if there are no USB peripherals attached). But with USB Legacy disabled, restart-after-sleep doesn't work (but I can have a USB mouse attached). Once I enable USB Legacy, restart-after-sleep works fine (but can't have a USB mouse attached or else sleep fails).

To summarize the BIOS settings:

BT: On & USB Legacy: On = No sleep
BT: On & USB Legacy: Off = Sleep OK & USB mouse can be attached but no restart-after-sleep
BT: Off & USB Legacy: On = Sleep OK with no USB mouse attached but restart-after-sleep works
BT: Off & USB Legacy: Off = Sleep OK & USB mouse can be attached but no restart-after-sleep

I think that covers all the bases. So for now, since I don't use BT a lot, I'm going to leave it off and have USB Legacy enabled.

Hey, this worked well for me. I do not have BT, so I disabled it and enabled legacy USB and now I can restart after sleep.

Just tested it on my Mini (A04 bios).
Bluetooth enabled, USB legacy disabled: no restart after sleep.
Bluetooth disabled, USB legacy enabled: restarts after sleep.
Not having a Bluetooth module installed, the second choice definitely seems the better.

I also have the restart after sleep problem. My system:

16GB Stec
2 GB RAM
Bluetooth
Webcam 1.3 MP
Mac OS X 10.5.6
DellEFI 1.1 Final
Bios A05

With bluetooth on, restart after sleep freezes. With bluetooth off (in bios), restart after sleep works.

Thanks for the testing, this also works for me too. Turn bluetooth off and all sleep/restart issues are resolved, regardless of whether USB Legacy support is on. :P

strange. i can confirm that the fix works.

a05 bios
bluetooth disabled
usb legacy enabled
restart after sleep works.

since i have no bluetooth, this option has no drawbacks for me :-)

I can also confirm this method works. My system:

32GB Runcore SSD
BIOS A04
DellEFI 1.1
Bluetooth DISABLED
USB Legacy ENABLED

I tried it with bluetooth disabled and USB legacy disabled and it still hung. Enabled USB legacy and it worked! I put the system to sleep a few times and let is sit for a few minutes each time before attempting the restart. This was the one thing that kind of bugged me about my HackBook Mini and now it seems to be fixed

Man, who would have thought that my "bizarre" configuration would have helped solve a glitch. All this time I thought my Mini was just special.

Yes, now I have a lead to fix the bug (but don't worry (or do), I wont look into it for a while).
