Default noob on the type11 efi osx install - 11-06-2008, 07:01 AM

ok, i assume/hope i am not the only person who does not even know where to begin on this.I think the more this is simplified for others and myself, the less clutter from noobs in discussions that they dont need to be. So this is the noob type efi thread to help all of us who have no clue, but want to learn.

I have the xp preinstalled version of the mini.

I got a dvd burner,

a retail copy osx,

burned a disk with the boot123 iso from here:

Ive got it all sitting in front of me. Ive read the post Type11 EFI Method - The recommended OSX install method

OK... so now what. Could someone please explain in the simplest terms what to do from here.

Do I reformat my hard drive??? Do I just plug in the dvd burner and follow the directions on the above type11 method.
9f is the default boot prompt or do we have to select that?

Oh, and thank you all who dont mind helping us who dont know.

Type11's instructions are very exact and explicit. Read through and follow step by step and you'll be fine. Come back if you get stuck along the way.

Boot from that ISO you downloaded, swap to the retail DVD, then run diskutil to format appropriately and install! Update and then run the miniscript! Voila!
