Very nice! Have you considered building a custom back cover to house the Mini and make it easy to move? I envision some kind of slide-in dock that connects the VGA, USB, audio, and ethernet (removing the locking tab for quick disconnect),with the other side exposed for access to power, USB, and SD.

Dell Mini 9 | Mac OS X 10.6.2 | 2 Jigabytes RAM | 32 Jigabyte STEC SSD | Bios A05
NetbookInstaller 0.8.3 | USB Legacy Mode off | No camera

If there was a way to wake it up with the lid shut, it might function like a regular macbook: you close it, it goes to sleep, and you wake it back up with an external USB or Bluetooth keyboard. When it wakes up, it only sees the external monitor and the internal does not turn on.

The problem with the mini 9, from what I can see, is that setting the BIOS to wake from USB seems to stop it from falling asleep altogether.

With your system, is the internal screen actually on all the time? If so, you are not only blocking the passive cooling (air in through the bottom vents, out through the keyboard) but adding additional heat from the internal monitor. It would be a good idea to monitor the internal temperature, to make sure this use isn't killing the machine.
