Default OSX won't play videos - 04-14-2009, 05:25 AM

I just installed VLC on my machine and for some reason, the video won't play. I hear the audio part but no video. Thoughts?

Perian is a set of codecs for QuickTime. VLC is self-contained and needs no other software installed. Is the video missing with only one particular video file or everything you try? What video codec is it using? I occasionally run across a video that even VLC won't play because it's in some oddball codec.
