When you run DellEFI after the install completes using this method... do you use DellEFI 1.1 or 1.2a5 :?: (or does this not matter)

It shouldn't matter. I would run 1.1 for now, unless you're OK with running alpha software. 1.2a5 seems to be pretty stable, but you never know and you probably don't want to be the first person to find the nasty bug.

 I know what you mean!! I would never load alpha releases for others, but I do not mind trying things out

Once I get my grubby mitts back on my Mini I will give it a shot!! The girlfriend is seeming to hold onto it for longer than I was expecting

i have an imac .... i have an new mac os 10.5.6 coming and a mac mini 9 and a 16gig ssd hard drive... and two 2 gig of ram. I am not sure of the steps for setting up the usb drive .... you need a single 16gig usb drive right .... and I can use my imac to set up the usb and restore mac os x on it .... and put delleflbootmaker also on the same usb drive. if anyone can clear this up for me ... it would be helpful.... sorry for being such a newie :-)

I noticed something odd... trying the same technique I used for the video I restored 10.5.6 installation DVD to my USB key and booting to the installation would be really really slow. I tracked it down to the missing dsdt.aml from the boot key. Something in the extension cache is breaking when the dsdt.aml is not present... Not looking good.

Well thats not good.
Once the Chameleon guys release the source, I'll take a look into modifying it to patch the dsdt on the fly (or have unmodifiable regions of the table or something similar).

Yeah, at this point given the dsdt.aml issues the best I thinkwe can do is to go back to the old Preboot.dmg method with Chameleon 2.0 to make sure the installation goes smoothly (with the 800x600 res, not wireless, etc) but still inject the "postinstall" script on the restored OSX Install DVD on the USB key. This way we can build the dsdt.aml on the fly and then copy the required bits for proper booting...

But if you can patch the Chameleon code then it would be even better as the install experience would be closer to a real mac.

Work like a charm. Long time boot wich can be disapointing, but with a little patience the installer launch and everything is fine.

edit : Name the SSD partition OSXMINI9 and not OSXmini9 otherwise it wont boot after install complete with DellEFIBootMaker v0.3.2.

Ok, so I have had some trouble using the other EFIs, and I'm interested in doing this. However, I'm a little confused as to the process. My question comes in at the question of "Boot with new usb OSX install boot key".

At this point I have my drive "OSXDVD" with my DVD image on it, and a flashdrive with "DellEFIBootMaker0.3.2" on it. I opened the application, clicked "Make Dell EFI USB Boot Key" and it says "OSXDVD installation completed".

So when I boot, is it booting from the same drive with the DVD image on it? Because when I do that it goes through the whatever you call it (black screen with all the white technical terms and codes I don't understand) and then gets to "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement : initialization complete" sticks for a little, then says "Still waiting for root device", sticks, repeats the message again and that's where it is now. Is this the "disappointing long time boot" as mentioned in the post above?

EDIT: Ok, I went and ate, and now it says "still waiting for root device" about 25 times, so I don't think it's gonna work seeing how fast bmaltais' went in the video. :? HALP!
