Default Dualboot MacOS with DellEFI 1.1 or 1.2 and other OS - 04-05-2009, 04:12 PM

With DellEFI 1.1 (or 1.2) is it still necessary to do three partitions to dual boot two OSes as described in the OSX and XP thread in the FAQ:

It looks like the first partition in that method was exclusively for the bootloader and based on an older method. I assume, but am not sure, that by using DelEFI 1.1 (or the newest alpha of 1.2) the bootloader can be stored on the same partition as the MacOS eliminating the need for the extra partition.

If that's wrong as an alternative can just use a bootloader for the second OS (e.g., grub if linux or the windows bootloader) to choose between which partition to boot?

I don't want to waste any space, even if its 200MB, unless I have to.

For XP yes, because it only does MBR. For Windows Vista and WIndows 7 no.
