Default help: log files eat 3GB - 03-22-2009, 02:04 AM

i found these files use 3GB in starting disk.

it also crash the console

i see some logs.
such as shdc driver ...

how to limit the size of log files?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that you can just toss the log files. It'll recreate them and you could be fine. I've seen log files chunk away 20GB of space before... Deleting it may fix the problem, or it could just start creating the file and eating away your space again. If that's the case, the best solution I have for you would be to do a reinstall of the system software (archive and install) and see what happens.

I agree, I think it is okay to delete the log files. But I think this could be related to the reports some have been giving about DellEFI reporting all sorts of errors to the error logs. Not necessarily the DellEFI app, but problems the OS has with modifications that DellEFI makes. This isn't often the case, but some have reported it. It might be that you Mini has a bunch of errors that it is logging but not telling you about. Don't take my word for it, it was just an idea of what could be causing it.
