So I started using the dual windows/mac usb method. I then got to the dellefi boot, typed in 81, and started the install startup. utter failure. kernel crashed: "panic(cpu 0 caller 0x0042F4E3): "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"acpi\".\n"@/courcecache/xnu/xnu-1228/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1378 debugger call: <panic> backtrace, format - Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack) 0x1aaebdd8 : 0x12b0e1 (0x4555b4 0x1aaebe0c 0x133238 0x0) It repeats similar numbers for 6 more lines Backtrace terminated- (obstructed by message that I need to restart the computer) Mac OS version: Not yet set Kernel version: Darwin Kern Version (obstructed......) ASE-I386 A computer engineer friend of mine looked at it for a couple of hours, read the forums, and concluded that either there's something basic we're missing, or Dell changed something to prevent us from installin OS X. Sorry to pester everyone but I really have not idea what to do now. Yes I have surfed the forums and can't find what's going on. If it's out there, I apologize in advance. |

| Junior Member Posts: 5 Join Date: Mar 2009 | Watching this this thread, I have a new Mini 9, Bios A04. The bootable cd I made of DellMiniBoot123v8.02b1.iso (for OSX 10.5.6 retail) boots up fine but never gives me the "Install OSX 10.5.6" prompt, I just get the "boot:" prompt. Hitting ESC and entering "9f" (the default choice, as well) merely hangs for a while and then starts reporting ebios boot error. One guide says turn on USB Legacy (it's on by default) and I found another guide that says turn it off. So Im off to try that. tech level - aging pc tech, but zero apple experience. |

i simply restarted, booted into the bootloader again by hitting "esc" then typing "82" to get into SSD. the mac os finally loaded, i used 1.1 to install the drivers and after the restart, it booted normally all by itself. ![]() | |
