I'm having trouble installing OSX to my dell mini 9.
Here's my situation:
I have a Mac OS X 10.5.1 retaild dvd. I made the bootable usb drive but I can't get the dvd to load onto my dell mini 9 because the mini won't recognize neither of the external dvds that I have when booting. I have no problem seeing them after XP is loaded. I have an external lenovo dvd-rom and an external enclosures with a DVD writer. Also, I have an external WD passport and an external floppy disk which have no problems detecting when booting.
I tried installing the OSX to a USB drive via Macbook air but I am having trouble with that because the Macbook air has only one USB port. When I plug the lenovo external dvd directly to the macbook air, I have no problem loading the dvd but can't backit up to the usb drive. When I use a USB hub with the USB drive + lenovo external dvd, the dvd won't run (weak power?). I tried using the external enclosure + USB drive but the problem with that is that the external enclosure does not show up as a device under disk utility so I don't have an option to create "new image".
I've also tried making the image from the external dvd to macbook air and then restoring to USB drive but that doesn't seem to work.
Can someone give me some suggestions? or am I doing something wrong.
