Default Additional space saving methods (especially for 8 SSD users) - 03-11-2009, 10:48 PM

When I installed 10.5, I had wireless working immediately. Apple software update either allocated or downloaded all the updates in the background. I had 838MB of updates in my Updates folder. They are located here:

Hard drive -> Library -> Updates

Do not go to the library folder in your "home folder", it must be through the root of your drive.

You can also delete ~300 MB of japanese language dictionary files.

Go to Hard drive -> Library -> Dictionaries and delete only the folders named "Shogakukan". I suppose you could delete the entire folder if you dont want offline access to a dictionary.

People on this forum suggested a shareware app called "Whatsize", thank you.

I have 2.8GB free after running monolingual, removing sleepimage, and deleting the folders I mentioned above as well as deleting applications and utilities I seldom use.

10.6.3. 2GB RAM. 32GB RunCore.
