Default OS X Questions - 03-09-2009, 09:42 AM

HI, I have a few questions. You know when it is 80 = SSD and 9f = external what is the boot code for a USB External. I dropped the external on carpet during installation it was a soft fall is that Ok?

Try 81 or 82 - that should work for your USB external HD (I think).

Boot codes 80 & 81 are for hard drives, internal or external. You can't be guaranteed that the internal SSD will be 80. I've had an external USB hard drive show up as 80 and the internal as 81. Just pay attention to the volume name you assigned the drive using disk utility.
