Default Sleep WORKS! AND IT WAKES UP! TOTALLY! - 10-24-2008, 02:27 AM

First, I made a video for proof.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JkX-rafqxc (video is still processing at the time of this posting)

I believe I was right, it was the STEC controller that was our problem. My 32gb SSD from MyDigitalDiscount arrived today, I popped it in and re-installed. (I tried to go the Type11 route, but for some reason was unable to boot off the CD I burned, so I just went with iDeneb 1.3 again, because I know it works.)
After installing, I ran the broadcom script to get the wifi working, then I installed the GMA kexts to get QuartzExtreme and CoreImage working. I haven't applied the sound patch yet, as I have a trick I want to try on that front too. I didn't have to apply any power management fixes or anything to get the battery status working. I don't know if coolbook works, and frankly, I don't care, since it seems to have no impact on battery life.
I've put this thing to sleep and woken it up a dozen times now.

Congrats!

Are you saying that you didn't have to do anything special other than install the 32gb SSD to get sleep to work? There was no special code, no new kexts?

Also, let us know what trick you try for the audio. My own frustrating experience has been that no matter what method I use (darkten iso, Type11 iso (original and new), replacing kexts, updating kexts, booting with -f, etc) I have never gotten the Quartz Extreme and the audio to work at the same time.

I don't know if this helps your work on your audio trick, but I've discovered that if I have Quartz Extreme working, but not audio, if I reboot from an iso and use the -f command, when it boots back up, Quartz Extreme is gone, but audio works even though I had NOT reinstalled the ALC268 installer before rebooting with -f. This happens no matter whose kexts or iso I use.

Again, congrats on the sleep issue and be sure to put together a step-by-step of the method you mentioned -- for noobs coming to the site.

For the first time ever I got sound on my mini using the above trick. However, doing so made my only resolution choice 800x600. Also, there was no QE. When I rebooted from the hard disk, I got my resolution back and QE working again...but again no sound. Does anyone have a fix for those of us that can't get sound to work?

Really, this problem is best discussed in the Type11 method thread. It seems to be a glitch in the instructions, since it's happenning to several people.

Does that mean sleep will potentially never work with the stock mini 9 SSD drives?

Yes, that's exactly what it means.

So #1 AWESOME #2 we thought it was the controller on that SSD good to see we were right for once ;-)

I get mine tomorrow (got sick of waiting for 64 GB). I will use my method and make sure it works but I have no doubt it will. Always knew it was an hardware issue. I have a new iso that does scrolling ( no mods needed) as well but will wait to try it on the 32 GB drive.

Sad thing is if my first 32GB drive was not DOA could have made it here a long time ago but hey glad to see it work!

Wow. I was trying to get it work with the Voodoo_beta kernel, but no way: you guys were right, the controller on the SSD is to be blamed.

Hope I can get a 32G soon, the 16G is in any case definitively too tiny, for real world use of OS X.

@PapaYesse
Did you update to 10.5.5? I had exactly the same problem with a 10.5 retail (I bought the first copies to upgrade my PB). But as soon as I installed 10.5.5 (and re-ran the script on boot123.iso, following Type11 way), sound and resolution would both be as they should. But get the install slim enough to install the update (it asked for 4.5G of free space!) was not easy.
