I'm re-installing OSX - 8 minutes to go. But i can answer the second question. Wake from USB is disabled, USB Legacy is enabled (I'm installing from a USB hard drive).

Will check about this Mac in ... 8 minutes or so.
cheers

Did the keyboard work during installation? Also, it is not uncommon for the installer to fail, it doesn't happen very often with DellEFI, but considering your issues it would seem normal. It actually doesn't fail, but the installer seems to think so, yet a bootup from the SSD works just fine. Happened every time on the older Type11 installs. You could try doing that as well, I guess.

Guess what? I tried physically removing and reinstalling the keyboard. I suspect there was a poor connection because IT WORKS! At least it looks good at the moment - I was able to renamed the drive in disk utility and now it's installing.

Thanks for the patience. Fingers crossed. I will update tomorrow.

The installer failed though, but this is less of a worry, because the first time I did it the installer worked, it's just that the keyboard didn't work. Now the keyboard is working...I can try the earlier method for the installation.

So I think the keyboard problem was actually a physical fault. Unfortunately I'm now going off to Taiwan for a week (was hoping to bring the mini instead of my old Macbook pro) so I've no time to look at this now. But I'll update in a week's time.

Anyway, thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

So, for the benefit of anyone who find this by searching, if you have keyboard problems just try removing and reinstalling the keyboard. I suspect the ribbon connector wasn't properly inserted in the motherboard. It all works fine now, very pleased!
