Default Ubuntu 64 gig Inspiron 9 Ok? - 02-26-2009, 02:53 AM

I ordered a 16gig SSD with 1gig memory XP for conversion to OSX. I then had a "doh" moment went back and checked out the option on an Ubuntu workup. Here the options included 2gig memory and a 64 gig SSD.

I intend to modify my order, but before I pull the lever I'd like to confirm that this model will go Mac.

Anyone have personal experience that can confirm this?

Either one will work, although the 64gb one will be nicer storage and memmory wise.

I bought a 64GB Ubuntu model and I'm running OS X just fine.

Just finished an install on a fully decked out Mini 9 with Ubuntu.

Issues so far.

Sleep did not work on first try and the function keys are not functioning. My co-worker has gone home so we will play with these issues tomorrow.

For your sleep issue:

Turn of USB Legacy and Wake from USB in the BIOS. That should fix that...

Isn't there a pretty big speed diff between the Runcore and Dell SSDs?

I think the recomendation has been, get the mini with the smallest drive and upgrade to the Runcore.

These are now turned off and sleep still does not work.

Turn of USB Legacy and Wake from USB in the BIOS

Mini 9

Bluetooth
1.3 Webcam
64GB STEC SSD
2 GB RAM

Basically maxed out from the factory.
