Default Video Guide - 02-23-2009, 09:20 PM

Are there any video guides out there that show you step by step the simplest way to install OS X with a DVD drive or USB's? I am having trouble finding one, and frankly, the text guides are not doing me that much. Thanks

Hopefully in the next couple of days I will be helping a friend get OSX running on his Mini 9. I do not know if I will do a video guide but I am going to try and write up my experience with DellMiniBoot123v8.01.

I do not know how a video would really help you get the install done. What exactly are you looking to see? The text guides worked well enough when I did the install. I had no experience with OSX before the Mini9.

Dell Mini 9, Black, 2GB RAM, 32GB RunCore SSD, OSX 10.5.6
Old Config: Dell Mini 9, Black, 2GB RAM, 32GB RunCore SSD, Dual Boot Windows XP Pro SP3/ 7 Beta.
Older Config: Dell Mini 9, Black, 1GB RAM, 8GB SSD, Windows XP Pro SP3 with all updates.

Its really not as complicated as it appears. I had a powered DVD/CD external usb that worked fine. I think the drive itself was a pioneer dvr 110. The biggest problem is burning the iso correctly and unplugging the CD during the process. Just take your time and I am sure you will be able to work through it. I did have a actual retail version of the OS just an FYI since that may have eliminated some issues for me.

Check out the FAQ section - there's a couple of very detailed Type11/Boot123 howto's, one of which is for 7.9. Just replace the reference to 7.9 to 8.0 (making sure to download 8.0). The steps are exactly the same. Once you've installed using 8.0 run the DellEFI 1.07.1 and you'll be fully up to date.

Ok well which version will be the most efficient I guess. The one that I wont have to scramble to find all of the drivers and such.

Even a guide with text and images is easier to follow then just a text guide. If I ever get a Dell mini 9 I will try to figure out a way to get this done. I love writing tutorials so the hard part will be getting a disc of OSX.

This guide is the latest method for installing OS X, I wrote it myself. I've been toying around with the idea of a video, but with mid-terms I'm trying to keep my Mini in working condition. But later this week I'll be free and clear to do one.
