Not got a lot of experience here with the packages you mention, but I do use Amadeus (http://www.hairersoft.com/AmadeusPro/AmadeusPro.html) which I switched to when I stopped using Audacity.
Amadeus is a bit slower than on my desktop Macs, but is still very usable as far as speed goes. However, the size of the screen is a big limitation for me. Can't really get enough tracks to work with on the screen. I have used Amadeus on my Mini 9 to tweak some mixes while out and about, but need a big screen at home to do any heavy lifting.

Thanks for the help!
And Snowshiro, I am also an editor and edit on my Macbook Pro just fine without a need for 2 cinema displays. The reason I am asking these crazy questions about the mini is that I was considering it to view footage on location without lugging my expensive macbook around. I don't plan on editing a feature film on it, I just wanted to know if Final Cut would even open and play back video. And whether I could plug in a USB mic and record some scratch VO on location in Soundtrack Pro. I need something light, portable and because of the rough and tumble nature of on location production, something that is cheap. Is that so laughable?
Anyone out there that has tried to open Final Cut or Soundtrack pro on their mini?

The applications don't know they aren't running on a real Mac. They'll run. The Atom CPU was never meant to do video editting and I think you'll quickly find out that it's not a good idea.. But if you do try.. Let us know what you thought of it.

i am in the process of installing FCP on my mini 9, i will post pics and results shortly. I wouldn't recommend Soundtrack Pro, with it's support files it weighs in over 21gb. thats a lot of real estate. i really don't think it would work to well with video input either. it's a stretch to imagine fcp will even do well, but i will post in about 20 minutes what i find out.
