I made a new keyboard layout to fix some issues I had with the Mini's keyboard.
Problems this fixes:
• Command+Tab (switching between apps) and Command+` (switching between windows) don' work well without a `/~ key
• Menu key to the right of the Space Bar is useless
How it fixes them:
• Remaps `/~ to Esc key, so app and window switching work normally
• Remaps Enter to the Menu key. I want to make this into a Command key, but this goes beyond just editing a keyboard layout file. I will probably have to compile a custom version of DoubleCommand to accomplish this.
Issues:
• Command+Esc still activates Front Row (Not Command+Fn+Q)
• Command+Opt+Esc does not work, so I can't use force quit
• Caps Lock messes up my remapping, this is an easy fix that I haven't gotten to yet, mostly because I am going to try to remap Esc to Caps Lock anyway.
How to install:
• Drop mini.keylayout in /Library/Keyboard Layouts/
• Open International pane in System Preferences
• Open Input Menu tab
• Check box next to "Mini" layout
• Check box next to "Show input menu in menu bar"
• Logout and back in (not required, but this seemed to get rid of a few bugs for me)
Please try this out and give me feedback (or help me fix the bugs). Are there any other problems with the default layout? I can also make different language versions if there is a need.
