Re: OS X Dell Mini 9 Install KERNEL PANIC! ? - 02-03-2009, 10:49 PM
I've discovered while hot-swapping discs that I would have to unplug and replug the USB cable for the drive as soon as I chose 9f. I would get a few read errors while the disc spun up again, but it would finally go through and continue with "Loading Darwinx86". Try this on the Sony drive.

Are you sure you are using a RETAIL DVD, not OEM, and not hackintosh (slipstream is a windows term). Could be a bad burn of the Type11 disk.. Are you using version 8?

I did my initial install and also a second install utilizing that model DVD drive (NEC DVD_RW ND-3520A) in an external USB case with only the usual plug & replug to get the drive recognized.
Did you format the SDD as part of the install to wipe out the MSIWind install?

No, I didn't format the SDD because I never reached the stage where the OS X installer allows me to use Disk Utility for formatting / partitioning.
UPDATE: After more than 25 attempts, plugging and unplugging the drives, STILL NO LUCK ! The furthest I've gotten is to the GRAY APPLE SCREEN WITH SPINNING ICON (made it there three times using the NEC). The apple load screen sits, spinning, and eventually the DVD drive simply stops doing anything, and the activity indicator goes back to resting (green).
P.S. I REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE ADVICE . THANK YOU EVERYONE !
