Default RAM usage - 01-29-2009, 04:32 PM

I've got a successful install w/ everything working as well as it's supposed to.

i've got a 16 gig ssd, and 2 gigs of ram in it.

So being bored i installed a resource monitor, and realized that the computer never uses more than a quarter of the ram that i've installed under normal usage, and never more than like 30% under heavy strain, (or as heavy as i could)

Last night I was viewing a web page w/ lots of flash ads, watching a you tube clip, running vlc and streaming music on itunes, and it plugged right along never getting above the 30 - 40% ram usage.

should I have just installed a gig chip? what benefits am i getting by having the 2 gig chip in there?

Can the os be tweeked to use more ram and possibly run faster?

Thanks in advance.

What resource monitor are you using? It sounds like you might be using one that assumes you have 2x2 Gigs installed or some similar nonsense.

I don't remember, but i checked the one that can be found in the Utilities folder within aplications, and it told me the same thing.

Really confusing me, that being said i'm very pleased w/ the performance.
