Default Thank you all (from newbie) - 03-10-2012, 01:44 PM

Longtime Mac user, balking at the price of an MB Air, so I bought a 10v on ebay and went to work. Hmmm...

installed 10.6.0
some hick-ups (hangs, no wifi, no sound etc)
re-install of 10.6.0
still hick-ups, just a tad less
forum search - found solutions (e.g. sequence of running NIB and OS updates)
re-installed 10.6.0, then last night 10.6.2
Bingo. So far it works fine, including sound and wifi.

Currently repairing permissions – never ever took so long on any of my Macs, I have to tell you, currently running a bit over 80 minutes – and then off to 10.6.5 or 10.6.7, depending on which one seems most stable.

I am always baffled how the combined knowledge on a forum such as this fine one and the willingness to share can make life so much easier.

For that, a big Thank You to all of you here.

We're a nice small knit community, so it's always good to share.

As for updates, I run 10.6.7, updated straight from 10.6 if that helps. As a reference, ther sequence i use is:

Install OS X 10.6
Run NBI (From Google Source)
Run NBI ending in 51.
Install 10.6.7 Combo update.
Run NBI ending in 51 again, reboot.

There may be a few redundant steps in that, but i like to be safe.

Only issues i run into are no sound occasionally after sleep, but running NBI 51 and rebooting solves this 100% of the time!
