Default Locked into safe mode - 10-05-2011, 05:25 AM

Another problem hence another thread.
My former HDD the one I removed to replace with the ssd was working flawlessly since 2009.
Installing the ssd and trying to figure out things trying to get it to boot into safe mode, I must have done something to the bios or else I don't see why my former HDD no in place always boots into safe mode :
progress bar and it takes 10 minutes to boot.
X to get into safe mode, right but how do I get the thing to boot normally?
Last, sleep was perfectly fine, now it won't work either on that drive.

Would an update to 10.6.7 or just running NBI fix all these?

i am abroad and rely on my dell mini to work (PhD) so I really need this thing to work. I was totally trusting it as it never failed me in over 2 years...

I did this:

Concerning the HD stuck on safe mode, and with the hibernate image too old, I've tried to do as said in other posts
1) turned the 2 usb/legacy? settings off in bios
2) disabled "secure virtual memory" in system preferences -> security
3) terminal:
sudo pmset hibernatemode 0
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
4) reboot

It didn't work as I got this from the terminal
sudo pmset hibernatemode 0
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
rm: /var/vm/sleepimage: No such file or directory

the message hibernate image too old is gone BUT the progress bar and lengthy boot time remains.
Then ran NBI endi with 51
Reboot: progress bar taking for ever.
And get the hibernation image too old.
SO none worked.
