When I had my OSX install on a 8GB SSD
, I installed it with a modified installer to allow me to remove more programs from the install process. Once in the operating system, I ran monolingual, and a program called "app cleaner" to remove stuff like mail, dvd player, photobooth and the likes. Also make sure updates are turned off, since it will download or attempt to, the update file. Some of the voices can also be killed off too. a program called Grand Perspective helps with this.
