Default Help needed osx newbie - 07-31-2011, 07:05 PM

I followed the guide to install osx on my dell 1018, for my surprise I was actually shocked how well snow leopard 10.6.3 runs compared to windows 7.

The guide I followed was osx10.6.3 no mac.
.mydellmini.com/forum/mac-os-x-guides/24839-os-x-10-6-3-retail-dvd-usb-no-mac-guide

I got it to install everything got sound working with the voodoohd kext.

Wifi not bothered about.

But my only problem is everytime I rebooted it would not load directly from the hard drive I had to use the USB flash drive I made for the installation

NBI 0.8.4 RC1 -- NBI_084RC1.img

It was coming up with a error 64bit arch=i386 error or something like that when booting directly.

And then just rebooting and the same thing all over again.

I just would like to know how can i fix this. I am a newbie so guide or something will be very grateful

Thank you
Dal

It's been a while since I did this and I used mechdrew's directions for installing with a Mac, but it sounds to me like your issue is with boot order.

Did you go back into the BIOS (F2) and set the mini to boot from the HD and not from the USB?

The install I used, mechdrew's, has one just do a one-time boot sequence change F12 (to boot from USB) rather than a permananet change (F10) If you didn't do a one-time change, then I suspect this is your problem. Otherwise, I haven't a clue...sorry.
