OK thanks for the heads up. There must be a glitch when I did my upgrade. I will give it another try someday. Right now, 10.6.6 is working fine.

OK, I am not making this up. Just tried upgrading 10.6.3 retail DVD to both 10.6.7 and 10.6.8. Both failed.

I have Mini 9 and 16GB of STEC SSD, maybe thats the problem. Will have to upgrade to the interim 10.6.6 1st, and then go on from there.

Thumbs up Dell Mini 9 running 10.6.7 - 06-27-2011, 02:08 AM

I managed to get 10.6.3 installed on my dell mini using the NBI special and since I used the USB installation method, after updating to 10.6.7 i had to boot into the mini using the usb then re-install the NBI special. All is groovy and humming along great with no issues. Everything works.

If you check out the 10.6.7 compatibility thread, there are few problem cases for people going from 10.6.3 to 10.6.7.

All I can say is if it didn't work for you, try upgrade to 10.6.6 first and then upgrade again to 10.6.7.

UPDATES:

Sorry about the misinformation earlier.

I have finally managed to upgrade from 10.6.3 retail install to either x.7 or x.8. Using only NBI special. My mistake was to run NBI special again before the reboot.

Here are the correct steps:

1) Run NBI special (xxx2351)
2) Run OSX Combo Installer
3) Reboot (Do not run NBI here, let NBI do the kernel patch and rebuild cache during the reboot automatically, it will take about 10 minutes)
