Default Bluish screen tint/color profile!? - 01-17-2009, 03:38 AM

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this? I searched, but no one mentions it..

I have OS X running brilliantly on my mini.. thanks guys! But I am a bit bothered by the colors being off.. there seems to be a slight bluish color tint to everything. It seems almost as if the wrong color profile is being used.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?

Go to the displays pane in System Preferences and change it.

I would, but none of the provided profiles look quite just right... I wonder if you know the name/brand of the lcd panel? perhaps someone's already made up a profile that can be downloaded..

do you notice the problem? or it just my mini 9?

well keep in mind that macs have a naturally brighter display than pc's. so just having the brightness up or gamma as its referred to in those color profiles. i think macs use 2.2 and pc's use 1.8 gamma. but here is the secret to setting the color profile just right in osx. Calibrate

Here is a Color Profile that I created for the Dell Mini display. Maybe someone has a better one out there but this seems a lot more accurate than the default. If someone comes up with a better one please share.

I don't know about better but I certainly prefer the one I've attached to the default one and probably prefer it over the one derfasaurus produced (but that might be reversed if I'd come across derfasaurus' one first). It was made for an Acer rather than a Dell Mini but I think they use similar LCD panels. It was made by someone using a Spyder calibration system IIRC.

Let me know what you think people.

Alec
