Puzzled by SSD install on 10v hackintosh - 02-03-2011, 07:54 PM
Hi, and thanks everyone for being out there. This is a great resource.
Please excuse me if I've put this in the wrong category or I'm repeating a thread (I couldn't find one).
I'm trying to switch out the 160GB HDD on my 10v hackintosh and replace it with a 40GB SSD I bought from OWC (this one - http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/YSSDMP040/)
I followed these instructions for cloning onto a new drive here - http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_cente...clon_data.html - using Carbon Copy.
When I put the SSD drive in the 10v, I got this error message:
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
Operating System not found
This happened three times, twice after cloning with Carbon Copy and once after cloning with Super Duper.
However, I can boot from the SSD drive if it's connected by USB (holding down Alt at startup). This works on both the Mini 10v and a Macbook. The error message only appears when the SSD drive is plugged into the motherboard.
If anyone can explain why this is happening and/or what I can do about it, I'd be grateful.
P. S. I suppose I could try doing a full install onto the SSD drive, but I'd really rather not reinstall all the apps unless it's necessary.

What version of OS X are you using?
I personally use this version of NBI, it's needed to get to 10.6.4 and on to 10.6.6.
Yes, that is a kernel panic.
