Default No OS Need to format/partition - 01-12-2011, 04:53 AM

Bought a wiped netbook 1012 from It has no formatting and no partitions and no OS installed. I have my OS X Snow Leopard boot loader USB from a previous 10v hackintosh but the part I am getting stuck on is where to install.

Disk Utility does not recognize the HDD and I am wondering how I can format/partition the drive for either a Windows or OS X install? Is there a utility I can use to setup the HDD for installation? Again, no OS installed and cowboom CS reps say it was wiped completely. Thanks for any help guys. I have checked for about the last two days searching the forums and most people at least have an os installed already for a starting point.

You could use a live Linux distro on a USB drive to partition it.

Mini 9 | OS X 10.6.7 | NBI 20100616212351| BIOS 05 | 32 GB Runcore | 2 GIGS RAM
10V | OS X 10.6.7 | NBI 20100616212351 |BIOS 06|160 GB|1 GIG RAM| 6 Cell Dell Battery
Functioning Hibernation

Thanks for the help! I will try that and let you know how it goes. By the way, is that the only os that will work? just curious?

you can use a DOS usb stick to format your drive, any amount of free apps. or take underwhelmed s advice I recommend puppy linux.

tut wiping the drive is best practice with kill disc or something but selling the computer on with out formatting it is a bit rude..

p.s all live discs load onto your ram drive but only Linux will create it on the fly on an un formatted dive.
