Keep trying, booting off external USB optical drives is a real PITA. Maybe look into making a bootable USB thumb drive instead.

Yes unfortunately my USB Legacy is still on and the booting still doesn't work. I started off the install with a USB Bootable device and this was how I got the Install Disk from Leopard to install, then the problem started to occur when I rebooted and using the same USB boot device it gives me this message. I then decided well lets try and burn a CD and boot from there and still neither approach works. I have tried each of the USB slots on the Mini with same results.
I have a 64GB Runcore SSD installed (got the SSD about 10 days ago, so I am hoping it is not that). Only thing I can think of is that the issue may be with the laptop.
I appreciate everyone's help and if there are any other suggestions feel free to advise......
Thanks again for everyone's help

I am really at an impasse....I have exhausted all possible options to figure out what is going wrong and need some help and advice. Bear with the information below but this will give you an idea of how extensive I have worked to try and fix the problem mentioned above
1) I received another Dell Mini (as a replacement because I thought the original machine was defective)
2) I have put existing SSD 64gb card into new Dell Mini to no avail
I have put new 16gb SSD card back into the new Dell Mini to no avail (to see if SSD card was issue)
I have swapped out the 2GB memory for the new 1GB memory to no avail (to see if memory was issue)
3) I have tried different USB sticks to put type123 boot into machine to no avail (to see if memory stick is issue)
4) I have tried to put type123 boot on CD to no avail.
5) I have tried type11 boot v7.8 v7.9 and even v6 (to no avail)
Here are the steps I did for USB stick
1) download syslinux 3.6.3
2) Format USB stick Fat32
3) go to the Syslinux3.6.3 directory, then the win32 directory ran syslinux -ma d: (d: is the USB stick)
4) downloaded Type11 unzipped and unISOed the files to my hard drive of a windows PC
5) Moved the entire contents including the directories (7.9) onto the root directory of the USB stick (did not overwrite the 1 file which I believe gets written during the syslinux -ma d: command
6) Removed USB stick and tried to use as USB Boot
Upon trying to boot from USB (or CD) I get the same problem consistently regardless of configuration changes as mentioned above and regardless of old Dell Mini or new one.....which is the "Realtek" error message as mentioned in my earlier post (see top of this thread). I am truely at a loss, Only thing I can think of is that I am creating either the CD or USB wrong with the Type11 software as it never gets to the linux piece any help greatly appreciated. I am not sure also if there is a way to reset the Dell Mini in some way...by the way in the Bios Legacy USB is turned on

I would try creating a DOS boot usb flash drive, to see if you can get anything to boot from usb at all. There is a guide on how to make one here:
If you can get one of those booted you will narrow down the problem a good bit. You know it can't be the mini or the USB stick at that point.

Did you try that USB stick in another machine? We know the Boot-123 works, we know the method of install works...it just sounds like the weak link is the USB booting. As long as you've enabled USB booting and installed the Type11 correctly (which it sounds like you have), maybe it's the USB stick? Also, when I was trying to do a dual boot with Windows 7, Win 7 wrote some junk on the stick and it refused to boot anymore - have you copied any other files onto the USB stick?
