Default Dell Mini 1018 and Snow Leopard - 10-31-2010, 10:36 PM

Hi,

Has anybody managed to get snow leopard working on Dell Mini 1018? If so, could you let me how do you do it? I can get snow leopard to work on Dell Mini 9 and Dell XPS 1210 easily.

I know netbookinstaller is not updated for this model, it would be interesting to know what kexts required to get wifi, sounds to work properly.

any hints would be great here..

I got mine working now but still no sound nor wifi. I also need to put "arch=i386 recovery=y -f" as the kernel flag or else I get KP.

thanks, i think i stay with ubuntu for time being as it is working great.

Once netbooker 10.4 is official out, I heard it will consists graphic and sound drivers we need but we will need to change our wifi card to Dell 1505 which shouldn't cost too much.

Has anyone had any more success installing Leopard or OSX on a Mini 1018. I'm considering purchasing a Mini 10 but am not sure which model is the best to go for with regards to running the Apple operating systems. Dell only appear to sell the 1018 model now.

I am currently using a 1018 on Snow Leopard imo it runs very well.
Only things that don't work are:

Hardware acceleration (obviously)
Sleep
VGA Out.

I did have to swap the wifi card though as no kexts are available as of yet for the wireless card.

I have also managed to get sound working. My thread is here: Mac OS X on the Mini 1018

Feel free to ask me any questions

Yep using a usb. Need at least an 8gb stick (I used and external HD) and a snow leopard retail disk.

It's the same process as installing it on the 1012:
