For 10.6.4 you need NBI 8.4. Looks like you may have to prepare a USB and boot off of that in order to run it on your root drive. Is your USB legacy support definitely turned on in the Bios?
I'm only familiar with Mac installs from USB so these are my ideas, I have no idea what that would do to your dual boot etc. Whatever your method, you need to find a way to run NBI 8.4 on that partition.

To create a bootable 0.8.4 usb you need the image found here NBI_084RC1.img.zip
Download it and download a program called win32diskimager.
Insert a usb into the pc run win32diskimager direct it to the image you downloaded and the usb you inserted. Click write and your done once it finishes.
