Default disk repair, boot from flash, 10v with 10.6.4, gives kernel panic - 10-01-2010, 05:40 PM

two Dell 10v Minis, A) with Leo, B) with Snow Leo.
16GB flash drive ("FD") with patched Snow Leo installer.

On both A and B, Disk Utility says repair is needed.

I booted A with FD. Repair using Disk Utility was successful.

I booted B with FD. This gives kernel panic at boot, saying that the CPU is not supported.

Will the patch fix this problem? How can my FD with the patched Snow Leo installer work on one 10v but not on the other? Same hardware.

=== EDIT
I ran NBM again to patch the flash drive and now I can boot from it.
