Default Will ram upgrade improve video playback? - 08-18-2010, 12:39 PM

Bought my Mini 1011 the other day. The video is a little choppy, iplayer especially. Activity monitor shows firefox using 125% of CPU whilst iplayer is playing!!!

Is it worth installing a 2gb ram module? Even though it seems to be a CPU issue.

Other than this I absolutely love the thing. It's a clone of my big mac pretty much without the photoshops and final cuts. Just what I need to go backpacking with.

It wouldn't hurt, but I doubt it will make any significant improvement. I've been running 2 GB in mine since they day I got it, and I don't know that I would say it has helped significantly. All the RAM has really done for me is allow me to have more apps open and not kill the thing.

If you don't have video acceleration hardware (the 10v doesn't normally), video playback is usually CPU dependent.

That is what i thought. Not to worry though . She is running perfectly adequately, like a dream in fact. Well pleased with my £220 mac.
