Default Help installing osx on dell mini 1010 - 08-01-2010, 06:51 PM

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to install snow leopard on my dell mini 10. I used the netbookinstaller 2 guide for windows (Google it), i use chamelon (?) to boot of the os x install prepaired usb drive (16GB) but when I select the Mac OS X Install DVD in the menu, it gives the following error: 'Error parsing plist file'. I've searched everywere but I can't find a solution. Thanks for helping!

Is there another guide for windows or linux?

Hi everyone,

I'm really getting frustrated now. I have now acces to a Mac, I have followed many guides but I cant get osx to install.. I have used two different usb-stick, three different install dvd's, and in a few minutes I'm going to try a external hard drive. When I try to use Netbook Bootmaker, Bootmaker can't find my usb sticks. When i try to boot it with Syslinux with the dell 123 files, it gives the following error: Error parsing Plist File. When I try to boot the burned install dvd with netbook cd it gives the same error. I am now downloading another install dvd wich is a also a retail, and i think that it is a good one. When I try to use the following script in the mac it says that the usb drive is not mounted. I have to mount it myself and if I have done some things I am sure it is mounted, I press enter and than the script gives up.

cd ~/Desktop/dw-howto-files/scripts/
sudo sh 01-prepare-install.sh diskX

I have the dell mini 1010 with a HDMI port and TV tuner. Is my model not compitable? Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Thank you very much!
Ps. Does someone know a guide with no install dvd?
Pps. Sorry for my bad english, I'm just 14..

The original Dell Mini 10, model number 1010 (Z-series CPU, GMA500 graphics and HDMI out), is much less compatible with OSX than the Dell Mini 9 and 10v. Most Dell netbook hackintosh guides target the 9/10v.

Since I don't use OSX, I don't know what the problem is, but good luck solving it.

Hi,

I know the dell mini 1010 is less compitable, but when I take a look on youtube I see this video, and that's exactually the same model...
HTML Code:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gYkoA7U9Iy8&amp;hl=nl_NL&amp;fs=1?color1=0x2b405b&amp;color2=0x6b8ab6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gYkoA7U9Iy8&amp;hl=nl_NL&amp;fs=1?color1=0x2b405b&amp;color2=0x6b8ab6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Thank you for helping!

According to post #30 of the install thread, that is two separate lines of code. Enter the first, then the second, not both all together.

Actually, look at post #32 for a more thorough install guide.
