To backup your Windows partition, you can use Backup and Restore function to create a disk image.

An annoying restriction is that the Win 7 image backup function insists on an NTFS-formatted target disk. I use Acronis True Image with Plus Pack to back up my Win7 partition. The Plus Pack is required because without it, the bootable rescue media won't restore to a GPT partitioned disk or one with non-Windows partitions. I can even make a backup of the Mac OS partition, though only as a sector-by-sector image.
