Default external DVD play - 06-29-2010, 02:56 AM

I hooked up an external USB DVD player, using OS X. The OS is seeing the DVD and I can navigate through it. But when I try to run DVD player, I get an error
There was an initialization error
A valid DCD drive could not be found (-70012)

The DVD player works on my Macbook so I know it is Apple compatible and is functioning correctly.

Any ideas?

Just posted this solution in another thread: DVD Player and ISO's?

For convenience, here's the external link: 10.6: Make DVD Player work with external DVD drives - Mac OS X Hints

That is easy to fix it.

Go to System/Library/Frameworks/DVDPlayback.framework/Versions

made a copy of the DVDPlayback and place it in Desktop. Use TextEdit program replace the Internal by External (use replace all). After Save it. You can replace the original one by this new one.

Just reminder made sure you have a back up copy of the original before you replace it.

You will ask for authenticate by typing your password. Then restart the system it will recognize your external DVD/CD Player. It also work in Toast too.
