No love from yestertech's steps or running the modified NBI from meklort from within 10.6.4 (recovery=y) on the original S10 Lenovo.

Just upgraded to 10.6.4 using the NBI mod in post #67 above.

Everything works ! Thank you, meklort.

Question: I ran the new NBI . . . BEFORE . . . upgrading, not after. It seems that in earlier versions we had to run NBI . . . AFTER . . . the upgrade. Should I re-run the new NBI now that I am up and running in 10.6.4 ? ?

Thanks.

Before works fine, when you ran NBI it updated /Extra including the recovery / NetbookInstaller ramdisk that is run after an update.

meklort,

Thank you for the prompt reply to my enquiry.

I installed on the Mini 10v successfully. I will now install on my Mini-9.

Thanks again for your help.

On my Mini 9, installed the 10.6.4 combo update, and before restarting ran the NBI from post #67. Works great - thanks!

Was there always an AppleHDA folder in S/L/E? I'm wondering if this doesn't have to do with my sound issue?

I am fairly new to hackintosh and just a few days ago intalled 10.6.3 on my new mini 10v following a guide i found in one of the mydellmini forums. Everything works great.
After finding the 10.6.4 update and following this forum i got several questions
1) there seem to be different updates like the one I found in Software updates, then people are referring to a combo update and a standalone update. I have not figured out what each one is and which one to use. it seems more people are using the combo update. Where would I find this one, and where would I find the stand alone update?
2) I downloaded the NBI from meklort but which options should I use? All the default ones or just the Dell Mini Extension?

I apologize for my beginners questions but I was on so many forums the last few days to get up to speed on hackintosh and Snow Leopard but what's out there is just overwhelming.

Updated to 10.6.4 with no problems - ran the updated NBI beforehand. Everything working as before on 10.6.3.

1) combo update refers to an un-logical step update. enabling you to go from 6.0 to 6.4 etc. Apple SU will give you a combo if it reads that you need one to be current other wise it will give you a logical (uncombined) step update. uncombed update just means the next logical step update 6.3 to 6.4 .. while 'standalone' is un-Apple speak for using Apple SU but unchecking everything but the step update to instal, a sensible precaution.

that said a lot of people prefer using the Comb even for a logical update. as you are on 6.3 wishing to go to 6.4, SU will just read that you need the logical step update, so you'll have to manually get combo update 6.4 if that's the update you wish to use. it's the way I'm going to update.

combo here

2) yeah what's best practice on the check boxes? anyone..

Edit: run NBI with all the pre set check boxes, up and running OSX.6.4, no problems to report so far.. cheers everyone..
