Hey, success on a Dell Mini 10v
Ran current 0.84RC1 before update, to prepare
Ran 10.6.4 combo
before reboot, open terminal and:
sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/ATI* /Extra.bak/
sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce* /Extra.bak/
reboot, wait patiently for NBI
all good so far with kernel 10.4.0 on 2 units - try my Wind U100 later...

Removing the ATI and GeForce drivers and running NBI 0.8.4RC1 appears to have done the trick for me. I am back up and running...

1. Booted into recovery=y.
2. Moved /System/Library/Extensions/ATI* and /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce* to /Extra.bak/.
3. Ran local copy of NBI 0.8.4 RC1 (original - not the recently-posted hacked version).
4. Rebooted.

I'm running 10.6.4, it's bootable and everything works except for:
a. Can't turn off bluetooth.
b. Camera not working (Photo Boot crashes, Image Capture doesn't recognize the camera, etc).

Both these issues were present before the attempted upgrade. Aside from the fact that it's running 10.6.4, everything is exactly the way it was before the update.

Default KP still happening - 06-16-2010, 08:58 PM

I was able to boot using the shift key/recovery=y method and the patched 0.8.4 rc1 by Melkort. I unfortunately tried to restore sound with the kexthelper program. Now, I cannot boot even using the recovery=y method. My Snow Leopard install flash drive also crahes with KP if try to boot with Shift/recovery=y method. I am out of luck since I cannot even boot to run any future fixes with 0.8.4 RC2 or whatever.
Any ideas?

Aeb

I am not having an KP any longer, however when i click restart screen goes black and hangs.

I have installed the standard NBI 0.8.4RC1

Everything else appears to work, including camera.

Any Ideas?

Default recovery=y still producing KP - 06-16-2010, 10:56 PM

Is there another way to safe boot besides shift/recovery=y method? My Dell Mini 9 still receives a kernel panic and I cannot safe boot.

Any ideas would help.
Thanks,
aeb

I followed yestertech's instructions and my reboot issues appear to have been resolved.

I seem to have a completely working 10.6.4 machine. I started this process only because I was planning on selling my 10v because I recently got an iPad.

Life is tough huh.
