The issues is that NBI has a hardcoded value of 256mb for the ramdisk that it uses to create the Extensions.mkext. It copies /S/L/E to the ramdisk and then /Extra/<macine>Ext there. On my machine, the /S/L/E is larger than 256mb, and that's causing issues. You can always try removing kexts that you know you'll never need (such as Nvidia and ATI kexts from /System/Library/Extensions, which'll easily cut out 50+mb) in order to reduce the size and rerun NBI again.

What I need to do is change the way NBI work in order to really fix this, but that'll take a little bit of time. I'll try to increase the hardcoded value as a temporary fix one I fix my build environment.
Meklort,
Success! After removing some of the ATI and Nvidia kext It made enough room to run. I probably removed 20-40MB worth. (I should have kept track of the exact amount) Also I ran the NBI from the dropbox link after creating more room.

Also the intermittent sound issue is back. Only this time it is here to stay on my machine. Dual boot is still intact and functioning.

Hi Guys,

I had KP too, but I simply got rid of it installing NullCPUPowerManagement.kext into the Extra Folder.

Now I just have only one left issue.....:

Sleep function didn't work anymore !!!!

Please fix that Meklort.

Dual boot with Windows 7 works great for me. Still have problems installing Triple boot with Windows 7/Mac OS X/Ubuntu.

Hi berlinakustik,

I think NullCPU... prevent from sleeping. For me, that kext is not needed for this update.
I just updated with 10.6.4 combo. After install that, I simply run NBI manually. Seems no issue.

Hi kantok,

now it works for me without any issues either. I deleted NullCPU and just had still to run "Update extensions", because my WiFi was lost. But right now it seems to be alright.

Perfect !!!! Thank you very much !!!!!

So I ran the update extras to see if I could get the sound running again. Back to KP's. I'll keep you all posted.

Ok re-ran the NBI from the dropbox link Meklort posted and got rid of the KP again. Guess I won't be touching the update extra again. Since this is a hobby machine for me I definitely don't mind screwing with it a bit. Now...how to get the sound back, I'm up for ideas.

In System/Library/Extensions I found next the AppleHDA.kext a folder named like this "AppleHDA 10.6.3". Take this folder into Desktop. Open the folder an take the AppleHDA.kext onto Desktop. Open Kexthelper and reinstall this AppleHDA.kext with kexthelper into S/L/E.

Reboot and enjoy your sound ;-)
