Akki answered your first question.

The answer to your second question is - download it from Apple site in order to do a manual update using the combo updater. Iit is included in the choices on this page:
Apple - Support - Downloads

I think the one you want is this one, but you need to be careful to get the right one, you don't want the one that says server:
Mac OS X v10.6.4 Update (Combo)

Hey all, I have a small problem hoping for help. I have been lagging on my updates and was at 10.6.2, updated directly 10 10.6.4 after running the new NBI. Unfortunately whenever I boot I get the Apple symbol with a circle and slash through it. I am able to boot into recovery and have tried everything I know of based on my limited knowledge including re-running NBI with only the install mini 10v extensions checked. Still when I boot into normal mode, I get stuck at the apple logo with the circle and slash. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

Latest NBI from the archives or this thread? As far as I know, only the patched version in this thread works with 10.6.4.

mini 9 | 2GB RAM | 16GB STEC SDD | BIOS A06, USB Legacy OFF | No Bluetooth | OSX 10.6.7 | NBI 0.8.5pre w/ ALC268 | Broadcom2Airport

Want the ALC268 mini 9 sound fix? Get it here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2377323/Mini9SoundPatch.zip

I tried the one from this thread, does not seem to work. I tried the NBI RC1 I think and was getting the you need to restart your computer message. I am sure it is a Kernel issue because I am typing this on my netbook in Recovery mode. I also tried the method of using terminal to remove or shrink the kexts as described earlier in this thread but still to no avail.

My issue is I'm getting a circle with a slash through it at bootup. Using verbose booting, its hanging at what appears to be the UUID of the OS, but safemode and recovery=y boots fine.

I have a dell mini 9. Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

Also I am dual booting Mac OS and Windows XP for what that's worth.
This sounds similar to my problem, anyone know if there was ever a resolution to this one?

Default Another successful upgrade - 09-06-2010, 04:13 PM

I was reluctant to update my Mini 9 to 10.6.4 because I intend to take it on an upcoming trip to China, and didn't want to hose it up, but I try to keep current with the updates.

It went well using the version of NBI posted here, and everything, including WiFi, Bluetooth, and audio, seems to function properly.

Thanks from another satisfied user.

Has anyone seen a strange bug where things like the Bluetooth icon in System prefs, as well as all highlights in menus show up as purple instead of blue? I double checked, and my setting for those colors in menu is the standard blue/light blue.

Finally running 10.6.4 (after installing 10.6.3 from OEM DVD as an upgrade to 10.5.8).

Thanks.

Nevermind - found the issue - never had to do display calibration under 10.5.8 - went in and selected the Acer 1/Mini calibration included, and things now look good!

I also upgraded from 10.6.2 directly to 10.6.4. I'm thinking this may be part of the issue since it doesnt seem to be occuring with updates from 10.6.3

So is it generally accepted that 10.6.4 works without issue on a Dell Mini 10v?
