Question waiting for root device error - 07-17-2010, 09:51 PM

Anybody figure this out yet? (It's when you get the circle with the line through it at boot.) I've tried to upgrade 3x with same result.

MINI 9 | Runcore pro-lite 64gb | 2GB RAM |Mac OSX 10.6.7 win7 Ubuntu 10.10 triple boot| BT| NBI 0.8.4RC1(latest version)

Edit : My Dell mini 10v runs 10.6. What should be my next move?
1) Install the version of NBI from post 67
2) Install the 10.6.2 update, then reboot, finish.
3) Install the version of NBI from post 67 again.
4) Install the 10.6.4 update, then reboot, and finish, OR

1) Install the version of NBI from post 67
2) Install the 10.6.4 update directly, then reboot and finish ????????

Will it work if i follow the 10.6.4 update directly ?????
Regards

so really nobody able to give straight forward instructions how to upgrade from 10.6.3 to .4 ???
Welcome to the forum, I think. Strange first post to insult everyone here who provides helpful information and those who create the "hacks" that make running OS X on the Minis possible.

Yes, there's a lot of "not working". Many of these are from people who did not read and/or follow instructions. There is also help for those to get them going. You're going to have to read.

The first post in this thread gives the instructions in the first four lines. What more do you want?

I am personally insulted at your suggestion that success stories are "faked". Mine certainly is not, and neither are most of the people here who follow instructions and have been successful.

I successfully migrated from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4 in one attempt and all features work as they did in 10.6.3.

The instructions are incredibly easy. Download the Netbook installer from post #67. Download the combo 10.6.4 update from the Apple website.

Run the Netbook installer you downloaded
Run the Combo update you downloaded.

My Dell mini 10v ran 10.6 (sorry about mistyping the model no). What I did :
1) Installed the version of NBI from post 67
2) Installed the 10.6.2 update, then rebooted, and I've got PK.
Followed instructions of first post and removed extensions. Rebooted and again PK. Any ideas ?

Okay then.
Btw did you mean KP (kernel panic) instead of PK (I have no idea what PK is)

Did you put any additional kext(s)?
Did you see the NBI logo on the first rebooting after updating?
Have you tried to re-run the NBI one more time?

That's weird, which version of NBI installed on your mini before?
may be you need to try to perform a clean install from 10.6.0 with NBI 0.8.4 rc1 and then run combo update (try 10.6.2 first then 10.6.4, or you can try 10.6.4 directly).

Well i have upgraded on a 10v first time with absolutely no issues that could not be remedied by searching through this absolutely fantastic forum. Every issue i have encountered there has been a walk through that any one could follow and have success with. What Meklort has achieved by providing a package that aids in a fully operational hackintosh system with the minimum of pc know how is staggering, but unfortunately because alot of people have no idea what is in or how this package works they find it trouble some and rather baffling when they encounter a problem. Thats when this forum steps in, every issue or problem that arises odds on some 1 else has faced it and there are solutions for it. So how about taking the time and effort to resolve your own issues instead of whinging about how this site has let you down.
Thank you everyone here involved in the hackintosh scene.
