I am with a Dell INSPIRON 1011 mini and just figured it out, that the voodoohda.kext performes much better than the integrated AppleHDA.kext. The sound seems even better. but most of all the booting time increases at least 300 %.

Why didn't have mentioned anybody that before ??!
Well it does seem to boot faster.. but by no means 300%, this using 1011 and 10.6.0

Default Update Complete - 06-27-2010, 10:43 PM

Following the instructions listed on page 1 (mostly) resulted in what appears to be a flawless update. This is on a Mini 9 with a stock 64 gb Dell SSD. If it matters, I did the following.

1. Ran the updated netboot installer. (Twice)
2. Downloaded 10.4 updated via Software Update in Mac OSX.
3. Rebooted - wait for loading screen/icon.
4. Booted up fine, re-ran Netboot installer again for good measure.

Sound, sleep, wireless, all working. Audit via headphones also working.

Thanks guys.

Why did you run NBI twice before updating? It doesn't matter if you run it 1000 times or just once, and if you want to make sure NBI kexts well installed, you better run it again right after the update instalation finished, not after reboot (IMHO both are wasting time, since the latest NBI will automatically run after software update).
Oh, btw do you mean 10.6.4 instead of 10.4?

No reason, just did it again because it made me feel better, even if it is completely illogical based on what you mentioned above. I did run it right after the installation as well. Only takes like 3 minutes a shot and had no negative impacts so figured what the hell.

Yes, I meant 10.6.4, updating from 10.6.3.

Oh well, I see.
Even I've asked that question, I didn't mean to say that what you've done was illogical, and I know what made you feel better was it's better to prevent bad things happened. Much time may wasted to solve problems occured and I agree with you It's worth to spend 3 minutes to do that if it make us feel better.

How to move or remove CD/DVD drive eject icon on the menu bar?
After updating to 10.6.4, it seems that the eject icon on the menu bar can't be moved or removed.
Am I doing something wrong?
Had same issue, after some fiddling about i realised i had previously mapped the alt key to something else, check system preferences/ keyboard/ keyboard shortcuts. unassign it then drag off bar. Worked for me.

hi all,

I'm a bit confused about which is the latest version of NBI - the one I should run before the MAC OS 10.6.4 update? Is there a central download page for NBI or are we more circumspect due to the efforts of a company with a fruity name?

Anyway may I have that download link and version again for NBI?

thanks,
Tim

Hi,

I'm new to this forum so apologies if this has been posted.

I updated to 10.6.4 and got the Kernal panic but I booted in recovery mode and installed the new netbook installer and all worked fine but now sometimes when I am working on my Dell Mini 10v I get a Kernal Panic, is there anything else I can do to fix it?

Thanks in advance
