Finding this very odd. I don't use mobilebroadband all the time as I mostly use wifi at home, but for the last few days I have been using it up and down the country and it has been really reliable. But right at this minute, I am using it indoors with 10 pages open at the same time.....
Do you know for certain that your network coverage is supposed to be good where you are? What does the three coverage check give you?
Oh yeah, are you on a pay as you go or a contract?

Been hunting around and saw this tip:
Warning for OS X and GPRS/3G/HSDPA: one of OS X's default settings causes problems with many networks. If you get disconnections after only a few seconds, turn off "Send PPP echo packets" in System Preferences:Network:PPP:PPP Options.
Might be worth a try for you......

And one more thing. Although I have not manually entered anything at all in the section System Preferences:Network:Advanced: DNS I see that three automatically when I connect adds in 2 IP addresses as shown below:
You might try manually adding these DNS servers perhaps - though that's a long shot as 3 should do that for you....
Oh and for the record these are the ppp settings (I didn't touch them and I still have the "echo" thing which seems fine for me...). Maybe just try comparing with yours to see if anyhting odd leaps out at you.
Lastly, I presume you don't have a PIN code on your SIM?

Maybe it is the monthly contract thing........I am pay as you go (£10 for 1GB) and simply took the SIM from the USB dongle that it originally came with and all is really good with the settings I posted.
When I said I had 10 pages open, it's just that beyond 10 it seemed pointless opening more, but I haven't found any limit point where things just give up at all - so from here on in, I am pretty much out of guesses other than to think that if it works in your dongle it must work in the Mini slot! I am even able to use the 3G internet at the same time as the GPS feature....
I have browsed other sites where they suggest different APNs and settings for different services.
You probably have tried already, but if not (!) then try instead of "three.co.uk" using "3internet". Also some suggest the phone number of *99#. Finally, you might try some of the other Generic modem scripts that Ross Barkman has on his site (Ross actually was the one who wrote the script that featured on the Mobile Broadband Rocks site and that we use for our Dells). Maybe try his Generic HSDPA and Generic 3G script about two thirds down his page. e seems pretty expert too and so for the price of a donated pint he could probably get to the root of your problem.
Please though do reply here and let me know how this finishes (or PM me) as it is bugging the hell out of me too now!
