Just for general info. I thought that just changing that file extension does the trick. I mean change file.dmg to file.img or file.iso . I did that when installing my mac os. I put my dvd in iso format then I just changed iso to dmg and it was recognized by trans mac as mac drive. So I would assume change dmg to iso would work as well.
I may be wrong though.

Use the dmg2img to convert your compressed-dmg to iso/img file (both are the same). I tried convert Snow Leopard dmg file to iso by this application and it could be used to install SL
