Default Battery Monitor non-functioning - 01-01-2009, 07:27 PM

Haven't been able to find anything that helps me troubleshoot this situation.

My Mini was originally built using the MSIWind method. However I decided to to rebuild it using the Type 11 build method.

I used the latest v7.1 ISO and fully patch the machine

Build went great, but now the battery monitor constantly indicates that the battery is charged and it is plugged into AC even when it is not.

Energy Saver Panel shows battery is always charged to 255% at all times, regardless of the state of the battery.

Info under About this Mac shows in part:

Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 167114
Fully charged: No
Charging: No
Full charge capacity (mAh): 65500
Health Information:
Cycle count: 0
Condition: Check battery
Battery Installed: Yes
Amperage (mA): 0
Voltage (mV): 11100

AC Charger Information:

Connected: Yes
Charging: No

I've gone ahead and flashed the BIOS to A03 to no affect. The odd thing is is that all this info was working fine with the MSIWind build method.

What can I do to get the the battery info to start acting proply? As it was working and accurate right up to the point where I did the rebuild, I don't believe it is a hardware issue, but perhaps some kind of kext issue?

The version 7.2 that's about to come out will have this issue fixed, but in the mean time, read the version 7.1 thread. You have to mount the EFI partition, delete the DSDT.aml file, and generate a new one. It's a 10.5.6 issue, that's why it wasn't encountered with the MSIWind method.

What' steps did you take.

Do we just mount the EFI and delete the DSDT.AML file
THen run the dsdt patcher to create a new one?

Thanks

Actually, I just mounted the EFI partition, deleted the dsdt.aml file, dismounted the EFI partition and rebooted

I actually wound up doing the same.

Deleted the asl file.

Rebooted, everything worked, but then recreated the asl file with a program mentioned by others in the 7.1 program and copied it back. Everything seems to work on my mini with no issues.

I only have the 8gig but have almost 2 gig left for programs and a 4 gig sdhc card so plenty for me. If I need more that's what my MacBook Pro is for.

I ended up having to recreate the file as well, as I have choppy sound issues. I used the GUI-based program to recreate the file, put it in the EFI partition and everything was back to good.

Hello
I experimented the same battery monitor issue. I have understood the way to correct this problem and my question is very simple : where can I find the GUI-based program to generate a new DSDT file ?
Thanks

Update to Type11 v7.7 and this problem will be solved.
